Cat Ba is in the same archipelago as Halong, a half-hour boat ride from the port of Hai Phong. It’s the largest island in the area, and it really took us by surprise. <\/p>\n\n

We expected to find four cottages and little else, but it turns out it has everything: decent beaches, cool hiking trails, historic caves, and a small but lively town.<\/p>\n\n
