class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Hanoi&#8217;s international airport (HAN), also known as Noi Bai<\/strong>, sits about 30 kilometers from Vietnam&#8217;s capital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It has two terminals about a kilometer apart: one for domestic flights and one for international flights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There&#8217;s free Wi-Fi, and on arrival you&#8217;ll find currency exchange offices \u2014 <strong>but their rate is somewhat worse than what you&#8217;ll get in the city center<\/strong>, so we recommend changing just enough to get through the day and saving the rest to exchange once you reach the center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"from_the_airport_to_central_hanoi_by_bus\"><\/span>From the airport to central Hanoi by bus<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"the_express_public_bus_86\"><\/span>The express public bus 86<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The best speed-to-price option<\/strong> for getting from Hanoi&#8217;s airport to the city center is, without doubt, the express bus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Right outside the terminal, across the road, you&#8217;ll find the stop. The one that takes you to the old quarter <strong>is bus No. 86<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The stop is marked with a sign, and the same pillar shows the timetable \u2014 but it normally runs <strong>every 20 minutes, from 5:00 am to 10:00 pm.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The fare is <strong>45,000 VND (~US$1.70), and in about 45 minutes (depending on traffic) you&#8217;ll be in Hanoi&#8217;s old quarter<\/strong>, where most accommodations are located.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"airline_shuttle_buses\"><\/span>Airline shuttle buses<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some airlines like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vietjetair.com\/Sites\/Web\/en-us\/NewsDetail\/shuttle-bus-service\/%203550\/shuttle-bus-service\" rel=\"nofollow\">Vietjet<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vietnamairlines.com\/es\/en\/home\" rel=\"nofollow\">Vietnam Airlines<\/a> offer free or paid minibus transport from the airport to Hanoi&#8217;s old quarter if you&#8217;ve flown with them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"> You&#8217;ll find them in the departures area, next to bus 86.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Many of these airlines will also let you board their bus to the center for the same price as the regular bus, as long as they have seats available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"taking_a_taxi_at_noi_bai_airport\"><\/span>Taking a taxi at Noi Bai airport<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Like most airports in the world, Hanoi&#8217;s has a taxi rank at the arrivals terminal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>About 14 different taxi companies operate at the airport<\/strong>, so choosing one isn&#8217;t simple \u2014 but one of the most reliable is Mai Linh Taxi, with its green cars. That said, we haven&#8217;t heard of thefts or problems with any of the others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Fares to and from the old quarter run between 250,000 and 400,000 VND<\/strong> (~US$10\u201315.50), with the final price depending mostly on traffic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"using_grab_to_reach_central_hanoi\"><\/span>Using Grab to reach central Hanoi<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If there&#8217;s one country where <a href=\"https:\/\/www.grab.com\/sg\/download\/?pid=website&amp;c=sg_transport&amp;is_retargeting=true&amp;af_prt=www.grab.com\" rel=\"nofollow\">this app<\/a> reigns supreme, it&#8217;s Vietnam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>A fast option, generally a bit cheaper than the airport taxis<\/strong>, is calling a car to pick you up at the arrivals terminal. Waiting times are usually around 5 minutes, and the fare to the old quarter is roughly 250,000 VND (~US$10).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"private_transfer_to_hanois_old_quarter\"><\/span>Private transfer to Hanoi&#8217;s old quarter<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hanoi&#8217;s airport <strong>offers a private transfer service, which you can also book in advance <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/12go.com\/en\/travel\/hanoi-airport\/hanoi-old-quarter\/?z=4018868\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\"><strong>through this link.<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Another option is arranging an airport pickup with your accommodation<\/strong>, as most places in Hanoi offer this service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Prices vary by accommodation but usually range <strong>between US$17 and US$27.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"shared_van_to_the_center\"><\/span>Shared van to the center<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These are <strong>vans you share with other travelers, setting off for the city once they fill up<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The price is similar to \u2014 or slightly above \u2014 the bus, and they normally drop you at your accommodation or very close to it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can <a href=\"https:\/\/12go.com\/en\/travel\/hanoi-airport\/hanoi-old-quarter\/?z=4018868\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">see them and book here.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It sounds like a great option on paper, but we don&#8217;t recommend it unless you&#8217;re in no hurry: <strong>the van stops at each passenger&#8217;s accommodation, and it&#8217;s pure luck whether yours comes first<\/strong> \u2014 you could spend a long while circling Hanoi before your stop arrives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This transport is, however, <strong>ideal for groups of around 8 friends: you&#8217;ll have the van practically to yourselves<\/strong> and go straight to your accommodation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Just landed in Hanoi?
