Being a Japanese construction, it was designed to withstand the threat of earthquakes, something all too common back in Japan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"visiting_the_japanese_covered_bridge_in_hoi_an\"><\/span>Visiting the Japanese Covered Bridge in Hoi An<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Like the rest of Hoi An&#8217;s old town, <strong>the Japanese Bridge was added to the UNESCO World Heritage list in 1999.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Japanese Bridge was built with <strong>a unique blend of Japanese, Chinese and Vietnamese architecture<\/strong> and has undergone numerous renovations over time, though it has thankfully managed to preserve its original distinctive character perfectly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Above the entrance you&#8217;ll find three Chinese characters over the temple door, created by one of the bridge&#8217;s benefactors.
