Right in the center of the city you’ll find the Da Lat market. By day it’s mostly plants and flowers, clothes and all kinds of gadgets and household bits, along with fresh vegetables.
At night the outdoor area transforms into a night market that draws crowds of locals and visitors, above all domestic tourists from other parts of Vietnam.
One of the most popular things sold here are hats — especially the Pikachu ones (yes, you read that right), which is why it’s so common to spot domestic tourists sporting one all over the city.
This market is the place to take Vietnamese food one step further, trying fruits like durian or dishes like balut, a duck embryo still inside the egg, normally eaten by locals for breakfast or as an afternoon snack. That last one is recommended only for advanced users in managing the emotions this sort of food can stir in body and mind.
How to get to Da Lat market
The market is right in the heart of the city, so the best way to experience it is on foot. Traffic is also frequently closed off at night — especially on weekends — to make room for the pedestrian area.
