Is the ticket mandatory to visit Hoi An’s old town?
You don’t need to buy any ticket to walk around Hoi An’s old town.
You can wander its streets freely without paying any entrance fee.
The Hoi An Old Quarter Ticket is only necessary if you want to go inside the historic buildings (old houses, temples, museums or assembly halls).
How much does the Hoi An Old Quarter Ticket cost and what does it include?
The combined ticket costs 120,000 VND (~US$4.60).
The Hoi An Old Quarter Ticket gives you the option of entering more than 20 heritage buildings and sites spread across the historic center.
With a single ticket you can visit a maximum of 5 of these places. Each entry uses up one of the ticket’s five punches, and if you want to enter more buildings, you’ll need to buy an additional ticket.
Do I need to know which sites I’ll visit in advance?
No. You don’t need to preselect the places when buying the Hoi An Old Quarter Ticket.
Once inside the historic center, you can decide as you go which buildings to visit. On entering each monument, you’ll simply show your ticket at the door, where they’ll mark it and use up one of the five available entries.
Where to buy the Hoi An Old Quarter Ticket
You can buy the ticket at various locations (yellow booths) dotted around the edges of the historic center, at the main access points.
With the ticket you’ll receive a map showing the different places it gives you access to.
